Garden design
A comprehensive garden design service, shaping your outdoor space from initial concept through to detailed proposals. Designs respond to the architecture, landscape and way the garden will be used, resulting in a timeless, cohesive scheme with long-term appeal.
The design process
1. Initial visit and consultation
The initial visit allows us the opportunity to understand the space and to discuss your ideas and aspirations for the garden. This will be followed up with a written brief and quote.
2. Site analysis and survey
We generally work in CAD from professional topographical surveys which include details of existing buildings, trees, levels etc, in an accurate format. For simple gardens we may carry out the survey ourselves.
3. Concept design
An outline design will be produced along with mood boards, sketches and images to illustrate the ideas discussed, followed by a presentation plan once all changes have been agreed.
4. Specification
Any necessary technical drawings such as lighting, irrigation, pergolas and bespoke features, will be completed with associated documentation including a bill of quantities, in order to obtain accurate quotations from contractors.
We have enjoyed working alongside local craftsmen and specialists such as boatbuilders and blacksmiths to create bespoke elements.
5. From plan to build
We can assist with the tendering process to gather quotes from landscapers and cost engineer the design to align with the budget.
Once a contractor has been appointed and the work begins we offer a project monitoring service to ensure the build is done to the highest quality and to assist with any alterations.
6. Planting
Plant lists and mood boards are created for each border. Plants are sourced from trade and specialist suppliers and laid out on site by Bean ready for planting by the team. A maintenance schedule for hard and soft landscaping will encourage the future development of the garden, and we can help source a reliable gardener for ongoing maintenance.
7. Detail & furniture
To make the space really work it’s down to the finer details. We can help source furniture, cooking equipment, water features, soft furnishings and planters. We love the challenge of finding something special to suit your style.
