Our approach
Our approach to garden design is thoughtful and quietly considered, implementing an atmospheric scheme to make the most of the outdoor space available.
We design gardens using natural materials where possible, to create an immersive and authentic garden, often collaborating with architects and interior designers to bring house and landscape together seamlessly.
Gardens with a sense of place
Rather than working to a fixed style, each garden is shaped by the client brief, the architecture of the property and the character of the local landscape. Designs are guided by the way the garden will be used, borrowing from the vernacular of the local area where possible, to produce an enduring, practical and timeless garden.
Environmental consideration is woven into every project as much as possible, with a careful balance of soft and hard landscaping, natural materials and plenty of weather resilient, wildlife-friendly planting.
Bean completed her Diploma in Garden Design at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in 2006, starting off her career working for a Hampshire based landscape designer, before setting up her own studio in Romsey. Her projects span from the New Forest to the South Downs, occasionally further afield to the Westcountry and the USA.
Despite keeping a low profile, Bean has won 5-star awards for trade stand designs at Chelsea Flower Show, and a silver award from the APL of which she is a designer member, in addition to being a Pre-Registered Member of the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers.
